Bowls & Brews 2023

It takes a whole parish family working together to create an event as warm and welcoming as this year’s BOWLS & BREWS this past January. We could not be more grateful to everyone who gave their talents, time and energy to make this event a success.
Our 2023 winners: Holy Comforter, represented by chef Tom Gray and his “Yowza!” chili, took home the coveted Episcopepper award for the top church entry. Tom also took first place overall. Returning 2020 winner Joseph Sams and family, representing St. Michael and All Angels, took second place with their “Yours and Mine Island Chili”.
Several wonderful chilis were entered by chefs in our Advent family, including Deacon Joe Scheff, June Vickers, John DiMino and Nancy Hough, our wonderful Bowls & Brews emcee Matt Rogers, Advent Parish Day School parent Katie Fuller, and teachers Kim Foltz and Tonya MacKinley.
We’re looking forward to doing it again in 2024! Mark your calendars for JANUARY 13, 2024. If you think you’d like to be a chef, start thinking about and practicing your chili for next year!

Hot Chili. Cold Beer. Warm People. What better way to celebrate MLK Weekend? Bring the family and your appetite to Church of the Advent for Bowls & Brews and help support our ministries and Advent Parish Day School. Kids under 11 eat free. $10 admission for the rest of us includes homemade cornbread, dessert, and all the chili you care to sample. Craft beer available for purchase with proper ID. And Hot Tamale is performing live! Need to take your chili on the go? Take-out options are available. |

To compete as a chef or a team, complete this simple entry form. You can view/download the Chef Specification Sheet here. You’ll have the opportunity to provide details about your entry closer to the event. Be thinking of what you’ll name your team and your chili, and how you’ll decorate your table to stand out above the rest! Entry forms will be accepted until January 5.
