Much of what is known about St. Monica comes from the writings of her son, St. Augustine of Hippo, who was also the cause of much of her grief. She is honored as a special patroness of married women and as an example of Christian motherhood. In the Episcopal Church the celebration for St. Monica is May 4th.
From the beginning the purpose of St. Monica's Guild has been and continues to be spiritual growth and to nurture the needs of the Parish as well as provide service to the community. Recently, guild members have provided financial support for Youth Ministries, purchased new belts for some of the vestments, established the rose on the Altar program for new Advent babies and grand babies, conduct an annual sweatshirt drive each December for Grace Mission, help to restock the hygiene closet at Grace Mission, deliver flowers to our shut-ins, and try to actively support functions of Advent Church and its Parish Day School.
St. Monica's meets September through May on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall.
