Senior Adult Luncheon |

The Senior Adult Luncheon at Advent offers Christian fellowship for “seniors” who meet monthly to share news at Advent and to talk with clergy over lunch. They meet the fourth Thursday of each month at noon in the Parish Hall. Participants include men and women who currently attend Advent or have attended in the past and wish to keep in touch with friends.

February’s Senior Adult Luncheon
Get ready for the next Senior Adult Luncheon that Jeanie Jackson has affectionately entitled “Hobo Elegante (but no beans)” at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, February 25, in the Parish Hall.
Your Hostesses, Jeanie Jackson, Pat Jacobus, and Esther Whitfield are having fun with the menu. You will definitely want to come in out of the cold for this. How does one dress for such an occasion? Since we have had programs for the last two luncheons, this will be strictly a social affair with lots of gab and giggles.
Be sure to RSVP by Tuesday, February 23, so there will be enough time to prepare your menu. Remember the suggested donation is $5.00 per person.
We had some new faces at the last luncheon, so keep on inviting guests and folks from church who do not normally attend the luncheons. The more the merrier!

The first Senior Luncheon of 2010 brought us a very special speaker, a former attorney and judge who is now a priest, Fr. J. Allison DeFoor, II, spoke about his work in the prison system.
A seventh-generation Floridian, Fr. Allison is a man of many interests and he is a well-known conservationist, a businessman, Florida historian, a seminary-trained lawyer, former county and circuit judge, former Sheriff of Monroe County, was the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor in 1990, as running-mate to Gov. Bob Martinez, and served as Gov. Jeb Bush's "Everglades Czar." In this latter role he put together the largest land restoration project in world history. To learn more about his work, visit his website, GoGreenStrategies.com.
The January 2010 Senior Luncheon was hosted by Doryce Amiss, Louise Atler, Shirley and Punch Punshon, and Eleaine and Bob Woodward.
