Adventers used to blissfully throw away lots and lots of foam cups, bowls, plates, plastic forks, and paper napkins -- twice a week. These items, as you know, take forever to break down in the landfill. We decided to go Green and pulled out all the dinnerware and flatware that had been gathering dust in the cabinets, ordered cloth napkins, and new glasses. In order to facilitate cleaning the dishes, we formed the Green Guild.
The purpose of the Green Guild is to load and unload the very efficient dishwasher after meals at Advent on Sunday morning and Wednesday nights. We don’t mop floors, we don’t wash pots and pans, we don’t clean the stoves -- WE DO DISHES AND THAT’S IT using the dishwasher and put the clean dishes back in the cabinet in the Parish Hall.
