Children’s Church for children three years old through 10 years old is a special component of the 10:30 a.m. service.
After the processional hymn and opening prayers, the children (Kindergarten through 5th grade) are led by an acolyte to their own worship. There they listen to the same Scripture readings their parents are hearing in the “big church,” worded for their own level of understanding. Following the reading, they participate in drama, art, music, or other activities that focuses on what they learned from the reading. Advent is fortunate to have Jacqueline Henderson leading Children's Church. Volunteers who can take on a Sunday here or there are always welcome.
Prior to the Great Thanksgiving, the children re-enter the church to join their parents for the Eucharist. Children are encouraged to play an active role in the worship at Advent, through special activities and programs designed for their inclusion and participation.
Nursery
Day School Teacher Tami Jewell keeps the Nursery for us on Sunday mornings so that parents are able to fully participate in the worship service and the youngest are able to play and interact with other children. The Nursery is open at 10:15 a.m. for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. It is located in the Day School's Nursery Room. Babies and toddlers are welcome!
A "cry" room is located at the back of the Church for those parents who wish to bring their babies and toddlers to Church. This room is wired for sound and the service can be heard, allowing the parent to still participate while their child plays.
