Thank you Adventers!

The celebration of the Episcopal Church of the Advent's 50th Anniversary at 815 Piedmont Drive was a great success because of all the help and hard work of so many of you - our members. You lifted and toted, you worked in the yard, you cleaned, you cooked, you served, you sang, you did floral pieces, you left goodies before you traveled out of town - you did it all - and made it a wonderful day.

To those of you who were away this Thanksgiving weekend, it was an inspiring service and great, festive reception.

We began in the polished, refurbished St. Clement's Chapel with an impressive processional that included Mary Biddlecombe leading the choir and Tucker Biddlecombe playing the historic and recently restored pump organ. Fr. Sartin was such a gracious host deferring to Advent's founding rector, the Rev. Harry B. Douglas, Jr., to serve as the lead priest. After the opening collect, all processed to Advent Church, continuing the service for the first Sunday of Advent.

There were several of the charter members and others from the past who returned to join us for this special day. The reception that followed in the Parish Hall was great fun, quite welcoming with lots of wonderful food, happy people and good times remembered.

Advent is a very warm, caring place with a great membership that is eager and willing to jump in and do the almost impossible.

Thanks for making my job and that of the committee so much fun and for the wonderful event you made possible.
